Surprisingly good sleep on a beautiful historic train
Absolutely loved our sleeper train from Sa Pa to Hanoi. The beds, whilst narrow, are surprisingly comfy (but if you're above 5'9" you need to bend your legs a small amount). The room decor is gorgeous - so old school. We are both light sleepers but both managed to get around 5hrs sleep despite the inevitable noise of the train. Ear plugs were provider and you do rock about a bit but to us it felt very relaxing. Staff knock loudly when you're about 20mins from Hanoi. Our "VIP 2 berth cabin" had free water, crisps, fruit, Oreos. I saw inside the 4 berth cabins and I would absolutely never get on one of the higher berths. Considering you're paying for both travel and night accommodation, £50ish is really good value. Staff at the Chapa Lounge at Lo Cai station were excellent. There was a good restaurant, comfy seats and getting on / finding the train/carriage was very easy. Only reason I didn't give 5* was because the toilets were very cramped and not enough loo roll (we took the King Sapa Train the previous night and their toilets were better). Finally for other travellers it's useful to know that Sapa is nowhere near Lo Cai - it's a good hour drive. And the train itself is huge but comprised of 5ish operators who all have a few designated carriages - so when you see on 12Go or other sites it mentioning many options (but all at the same time), that's why. I'd definitely choose Chapa over King Sapa next time.

Tip top service for our journey
Started with hustle free booking from their website. Then, i messaged the helpline to confirm my booking, and they replied in promptly. On the arrival at the Hanoi Railway station, we were guided to the VIP waiting room, where they provided us free tea and popcorn. Once the cabin is ready, they brought us until our cabin. It was awesome as they never left us unattended. They upgraded us to vip deluxe from deluxe. The noise was bearable and my kids slept soundly that night. We loved so much the trip!
A very comfortable and enjoyable sleeping journey
We were happy to staying at Chapa train for a night. It was an amazing experience. The train is very clean and tidy. The room also very unique and comfortable. The staffs all very friendly and helpful. It was a very memorable journey.
Excellent services
This was our first time booking wt Chapa Express Train to Sapa for our family of 13 pax. My family was so thrilled and happy with the extremely good Hospitality and services during our journey from Hanoi-Sapa-Hanoi. We were greeted at the lounge and also welcomed into the cabin at both train stations. We highly recommend all travellers to consider Chapa Express Train as this is the only sleeper train services which provide lounge services.

It exceeded my expectations. The train was old, but the inside of train was excellent. Apart from the train, the friendly service was also great. I would recommend it. However, many seat belts on the shuttle bus were broken, so I hope that part can be improved. I appreciated that the shuttle bus driver drove safely without overtaking like other drivers. Overall, I am quite satisfied.
