Every year, during the Lunar New Year, the old flowers were replaced with new ones, with the old ones being taken down, burned in a ritual known as "Tẩu." Over the years, Thanh Tien paper flowers have become a cultural symbol in the folk beliefs of the people of Hue, marking the arrival of the Lunar New Year.
