Must-try dishes in Quang Binh
With fresh ingredients from the sea and fields, Quang Binh dishes have conquered many diners.
Rice dumpling cake This is a delicious dish not to be missed when visiting Dong Hoi. The cake has a crust made from tapioca starch, is filled with shrimp, fatty meat, and wrapped in banana leaves. When steamed, the crust is transparent and has a rich flavor. Banh loc cake in Quang Binh also has green bean filling.
The porridge soup has a strong sweet broth flavor, soft rice noodles, and a little bit of spicy chopped green vegetables. Besides Dong Hoi City, some other places that have this dish are Ba Don town. Ba Don porridge soup is rich in the flavor of sea fish such as scad, herring, pomfret... served with golden ramen.
Thac Lac fish ball noodle soup has broth cooked from fish bones or pork bones, served with pickled purple onions and sliced chili. Raw vegetables served with lettuce and banana flowers. Each bowl is sold for about 30,000 VND, suitable for breakfast.

Khoai fish hotpot, also known as bumalo hotpot, is also a specialty sold at many restaurants in Dong Hoi City. A rustic hotpot with tomatoes, star fruit, tamarind leaves, sour bamboo shoots, and sauerkraut creates a delicious taste for the soft pieces of the bumalo that melt in the mouth. Diners can order seafood with it.
