Transportation to Y Ty


Move to Lao Cai

If you are in Hanoi and want to travel to Lao Cai, you can choose a means of transportation such as: train, or sleeper bus with a travel time of 8 hours and 5 hours respectively. Currently, bus companies traveling from Hanoi to Lao Cai have a fee of about 250,000 VND, while train tickets range from about 400,000 VND.


Travel from Lao Cai to Y Ty

Although it is only 80 km from Lao Cai city, the travel time to Y Ty takes up to 5-6 hours, and the most commonly used means of transport is motorbikes. Depending on each tourist, you can rent a motorbike or send your motorbike by train from Hanoi.


There are two routes you can choose to move from Lao Cai to Y Ty:

Route 1: Lao Cai – Bat Xat – Trinh Tuong – Lung Po – A Mu Sung – A Lu – Ngai Thau – Y Ty. There are destinations that you can drop by along the way. This route is better than before. However, during the stormy season, this same road is often eroded and flooded due to flash floods, making traveling to Y Ty at this time quite difficult.

Route 2: Lao Cai – Sapa – Muong Hum – Den Sang – Y Ty. From Sa Pa, you just need to follow O Quy Ho and pass to the intersection with signs indicating Lai Chau and Ban Xeo, then turn right in the direction of Ban Xeo about 20km. This route is quite difficult to travel due to many rough rocks. If you don't know the way, ask the people here to understand best because Google Maps will lead you further around.

Y Ty market

Coming to Y Ty Lao Cai, you should not miss the market held by the indigenous people here every Saturday. Kho gia gia festival

This festival takes place from Nham Thin day to the 6th day of the 6th lunar month every year, not only with the meaning of praying for good crops and good weather. Choan Then Park

Tips when traveling to Y Ty


Y Ty is located along the border, so there are border control stations here, so tourists arriving here must complete declaration procedures for temporary residence within 2-3 days.

Foreign tourists are not allowed to stay in border villages.

The road to Y Ty is not easy for those experiencing it for the first time. When renting a car, you should choose a strong car with tight tires and good brakes to ensure safety when traveling.

The weather here is often cold, so no matter what season you go, you must bring warm clothes, gloves, lightweight shoes and remember to bring snacks along the way.

Bring some food and drinks to sip along the way.

Please book accommodation and meals in advance because the Y Ty area is remote and there are no restaurants open to choose from in the evening.
