Travel to Hue


Located in central Vietnam, Hue is accessible by daily flights from both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

By Plane - All Vietnamese airlines operate routes to Phu Bai Airport in Hue. The flight from Hanoi takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes, and from Ho Chi Minh City about 1 hour and 30 minutes.

By Train - Travelers can take the train from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, or other provinces to enjoy the scenic journey. There are various seating options, including hard seats, soft seats, and sleeping berths, with or without air conditioning. Ticket prices range from 400,000 to 900,000 VND per person. During hot seasons, it is advisable to choose the SE3 or SE1 trains for a quicker journey and book an air-conditioned sleeping berth for comfort.

By Coach - From Hanoi, you can purchase tickets from companies such as Hung Thanh, Camel, Queen, and Duc Thinh. The Hanoi-Hue route costs between 250,000 and 300,000 VND per way. Coaches typically depart at 6 PM and arrive in Hue at 6 AM the following day, allowing passengers to sleep during the journey.

Getting Around Hue


In Hue, it is advisable to rent a motorbike at your accommodation. The rental cost is 80,000 VND per day for a manual motorbike and 130,000 VND per day for an automatic, excluding fuel.

An interesting mode of exploring Huế that tourists should try is the cyclo. Cyclo drivers often act as tour guides, taking visitors to famous spots in the city such as Truong Tien Bridge and Dong Ba Market. A typical tour lasts about an hour.

February to March: Spring offers cool weather, ideal for enjoying the scenic beauty of Hue.

April: Festival season in Hue features lively festivities, vibrant street decorations, and a bustling atmosphere, perfect for those who enjoy lively environments.

May to August: The long hot season is best spent at Hue's coastal areas.

September to October: Autumn brings cool and dry weather.

October to January: This period marks the rainy and winter season.

Tips for Traveling to Hue


During peak seasons such as the Festival, the number of tourists visiting Hue is very high. This is the time of the year when hotels in Hue are overbooked. Therefore, don't forget to plan early and book your accommodation in advance to find the best place to stay.

Hue has several specialty products you can buy as gifts, such as nem chua, mè xửng, tré, or poetic conical hats as souvenirs.

There are many places to visit in Hue. You should plan ahead to make your trip convenient and visit more places.

Hue's food is often very spicy. If you can't eat spicy food, you should inform the vendor in advance to reduce the spiciness.

Before using tourism services, shopping, or dining, you should ask for the price in advance and bargain if necessary to avoid being overcharged.
